Local people voted a cinema amongst their most desired additional amenities for the town in the latest survey for the Town Plan. With this in mind, the Cambourne Village College Charitable Trust is now working with the Village College to create a community cinema venue in the new Sixth Form Centre, due to open in September 2024.
This will enhance the facilities for students studying performing arts and provide a separate cinema venue for Cambourne and surrounding villages.
With the capacity to show top-ranking box-office films just weeks after release and live satellite broadcasts of west-end theatre and opera, this latest venture will provide an exciting new amenity.
This is an ambitious project for the town; it will rely on the support of Cambourne Village College and local people for its set-up and ongoing success, but with a comfortable 200-seat venue, excellent facilities and free parking, we have the potential to create a thriving community cinema. It could grow to host several weekly performances with wide-ranging appeal.

Drop-in Session: An informal drop in session will be held in the Committee Room at the Hub on Thursday 16 November 2023 from 7.30 – 8.30pm when you can meet Trust members, view the proposed facilities and community cinema area layouts, ask questions and maybe get involved?
Community Cinema Questionnaire:

Next Steps – Donate: With the Coates Theatre venue now in full use and completed to professional standards, the Trust has £20,000 remaining and available for the new project and is seeking to raise a further £30,000 to provide a professional-quality screen, projector and surround-sound for the new community cinema. The Trust is grateful to our existing donors for their support so far and is now seeking donations for the Community Cinema project.
